Seller fees increased to 13% from 10%

Up until last week or so, all my listings had 10% seller fees. Starting from last week I started seeing 13% seller fee on one of the most recent listings, and ever since then all the new listings I create shows 13% seller fees. Used the customer service chat option to ask about it and the agent said seller fees have always varied from 8%~17% based on the event. This is not true because up until last week, the seller fees have been 10% on every single listings I sold. Also some listings that I created a few weeks ago (that havent been sold yet) still shows a payout of 10% seller fees when I go to my listings page, but when I try to create a new listing for the same exact event the seller fee for the new listing equals to 13%. So it is definitely not based on the event type.

Re: Seller fees increased to 13% from 10%

Sorry for any confusion there. This is a fairly recent change that we have made on the fee structure. You are correct, it used to be 10% but now can vary anywhere from 10%-15%.  Many factors go into how this fee is calculated including but not limited to the specific event, venue, or seats.

Thank you for your answer Paul.

You said seller fees can vary based on the event and venue, then can I ask for the reason why one listing for the same event/venue had a different seller fee percetange than the other listing? They were for the same exact event (date, time, place). Thank you.

Re: Seller fees increased to 13% from 10%

That is a great question. Were they listed at the same time? Unfortunately, I couldn't get as granular as you'd probably like because our events team is solely responsible for those details and I wouldn't have that info. However, the change was made fairly recently, so if you had listings created before the change, some may still be at the original flat fee rate while others are now reflecting the recent rate change.

Re: Seller fees increased to 13% from 10%

My fees increased from 10% to 15%. I listed some tickets to an event at 15% fee and my friend who has sold less tickets than me listed tickets to same event at 10% fee. That doesn’t make any sense.

hi paul.  did stubhub send out an email regarding this to its sellers?  or did it just try to slip it past them hoping people wouldn't notice.

Definitely didn't send out an email. I'm annoyed they increased prices but annoyed has turned into anger know they made no effort to communicate it to sellers. Brutal.

Selling Fees

Has anyone else ntoice "variable fees" lately?  I jsut listed tickets and am being charged 15% instead of the normal 10%.  Was told they're "testing variable fees" up to 17%....So this seems super shady..

This is terrible if true. We will be marking up our inventory if we find any changes in our seller fees. Another poor decision by SH leadership.

Hey Paul,

Just curious here....If you cant REALLY explain fees in a concrete/transaparent fashion, IE, at what dollar value, event, venue do fees go up or down...arent you at Stub Hub opening yourselvs upt to a ticektmaster-type fee related CLASS ACTION suit?  I mean, didnt you guys learn anything?  The way youve tried to explain this to us is total BS.  This fee structure is totally shady at best, and perhaps unlawful for its lack of transparency.
