StubHub has usually been a very reasonable option that I have trusted for years as a sports fan for buying tickets and selling my own personal tickets to events I cannot make. Recently, that trust in StubHub doing the right thing has disappeared. I have been in a nightmare scenario in which I was selling 2 tickets to the SuperBowl after my team sadly did not make it. Recently using the StubHub App I was adjusting my listing to $6,800 per ticket (low average for comparable seats) The app had been slow and mistakenly hit submit instead of the 0 button setting the price at $680 each. I noticed this as it happened and went to correct the price but the tickets were gone within a second. 1)Panicking I called customer service notifying them of the issue and was told that tickets were processing, nothing could be done until complete. Said that it was likely someone with an automated bot program that purchased the tickets. 2) Called several hours later speaking to a rep to cancel the tickets, notified me that tickets were canceled. 3) Received a call several hours later asking about the sale. (Apparently the prior rep canceled a wrong transaction) He said he would escalate the case to review canceling the transaction. 4) I called several hours later speaking to a rep who said I was going to be charged the $1,360 and subject to the cost of replacement tickets, potentially $15,000. Was told that I then needed to follow a dispute process. I am shocked that StubHub doesn't recognize this as a reasonable error that could have been resolved within minutes of it happening. It's terrifying that I could face something between a $1.4k - $15k charge due to a slip of a thumb and that they are still going to collect an additional +$1k for the fees from selling the tickets after collected. My hope was that I could trust that Fan Protection went both ways for selling and buying.
