StubHub Buyers Beware
StubHub does NOT require sellers on their platform to provide any proof they are in possession of the product being sold to you!
What to watch for:
If the seller does NOT provide an actual seat # in the offers:
During the initial purchase, and also check the follow up email you receive stating "the seller is having difficulty providing the tickets you originally ordered", as this is confirmation that the seller never had the tickets in the first place.
If/when you select the "Choose Alternative Tickets", the ticket being offered will also be missing an actual seat #. This is because the seller has still not yet purchased a ticket. If you accept the alternative, only then will the buyer purchase it. Keep in mind, it will NOT be comparable to the ticket you initially purchased. This is especially important if you purchased a VIP ticket in advance. The value of the alternative is far less, will not include VIP access and the refund amount they offer will be a fraction of the actual price you paid initially. This is how the sellers are scamming you. NEVER ACCEPT THE ALTERNATIVE. This will ensure you get a full refund.
The seller never buys the ticket in this example, but hopes the buyer accepts the alternative by mistake, which is always a far lower in value. Please note the seller is paid by the buyer, thousands of dollars, and potentially months in advance of the event, and there is no recourse or accountability to the seller once they receive payment.
After multiple requests over 5 months asking for updates from the seller as to why the ticket was not yet available, the seller finally informs StubHub they cannot provide the ticket a few days before the event. Did they ever have possession of the product? Not likely. But if they did, there's nothing prohibiting the seller from accepting a higher price from another buyer and using the my money as a "loan" to purchase other tickets and scam other buyers in the same way. It's a scam and StubHub is either unwilling or unable monitor this behavior on their platform. StubHub will still take their portion of the sale regardless...and the buyers are left with the overarching responsibility of providing necessary oversight and sharing experiences to caution buyers if sellers are abusing their platform.
StubHub could require proof that the seller is in possession of the product they are selling on their platform.
Don't be scammed by these sellers...look for signs of ambiguity in their initial offer, ask for proof that they are in possession of the product you are buying on StubHub!
