Charged incorrectly in USD and super frustrated with support's response

I purchased tickets to a concert in Toronto, Canada. I only ever buy tickets in CAD, and in the past, I have never had to change my currency manually on the website or my profile, it's just always worked and purchased for me in CAD.

 

On my bank statement however, the amount I thought I was paying was interpreted as USD and converted to CAD, costing me around $50 more than I expected to pay.

 

I have contacted support and have received the same templated response five times basically saying it's my fault, the event was listed in USD and I would need to manually change my currency (which I've never had to do in the past). They don't even read your question and address it, they just send the same templated response, I assume it is an AI response rather than a human.

 

What's more annoying about this is Stubhub's own support articles state that "events are listed in that country's currency. For example, tickets in Canada are in Canadian dollars."

So what support are saying makes no sense, this event took place in Canada, so there's no reason why the tickets should have been listed in USD.

 

They've overcharged me, the user experience on the website was inconsistent with their own support articles, and their support agents don't properly read your query and just tell you it's your own fault. Ridiculous experience.

Stubhub used to have great customer service, but were acquired 1-2 years ago.  The service was atrocious from that point on, but they mostly still did what they need to do in terms of refund, etc.  But, now I honestly am convinced that their policy is to keep money at all costs.  I have two cases where I received invalid tickets.  One I've been calling them for 7.5 weeks, one for a couple weeks.  In both cases, they refuse to refund me.  Just telling me its "escalated."  I am absolutely sure that they're goal is to keep saying that until I get tired of long phone calls with them, and they can then just steal my money.

 

Anyway, sorry that happened to you.  I would strongly recommend avoiding Stubhub for any secondary market ticket purchases.  Tickpick is a much better option.  (though all of these companies have pretty lackluster customer service)

Just spent half an hour being told I made the same "mistake". No we didn't!!!! The currency is, was, and remains CAD. Tried buying a new ticket just to be sure... once you get to the payment page, it still shows CAD. Then it says Order summary
CA $ xxx.xx
"This is an approximate conversion. These tickets are listed in USD. You will pay US$ ×××.××."
And it charges the USD amount. There is nothing we can change. Not our error. I am fuming too. If it even said "Your payment method will be charged USD" I would have used an Amex card that doesn't charge conversion fees... but it does not. I get it's approximate. Exchange rates vary. I expected the final price to be within a few dollars... not in USD with an extra 2.5% fee from my credit card company.
Class action anyone?????
